About Martyn Birch
Marty is no stranger to hard work and dedication, having spent 24yrs with the NZ Navy, including Secondments Peacekeeping with the UN. He then moved to Marlborough 20 years ago, purchasing Thymebank (a hydroponic lettuce and herb business), which he went on to grow to a nationally recognised and Trusted Brand, prior to selling the business. He believes that hard work and dedication were the key ingredients to his success.
Marty is also an active sportsperson, having represented New Zealand in age group Triathlon and Ironman as a younger man, he has now proved that age is no barrier having again qualified for the Hawaii Ironman World Championships again this year, 30 years since first competing there. Marty is actively involved in establishing and growing Water Polo in the province, which has seen Marlborough teams achieve national honors.
He is now transferring his experience and work ethic to growing and strengthening the Harcourts team.
Marty believes relationships are the cornerstone to any business transaction. “It’s not necessarily about selling, it’s more about forming relationships, adding value and establishing trust. If someone wants to see me for advice, they don’t have to be selling anything, we can just catch up for a cuppa and a chat”.
